Getting started

Sign up and log in
  1. Tap “Get started” and type your email.
  2. Open the email from Slatemenu and type the 6-digit code.
  3. That’s it. There’s no password to remember: every time you log in, we email you a fresh code.
Turn your paper menu into a digital menu
  1. Type your restaurant’s name.
  2. Tap “Choose photos or PDF” and pick photos of every page of your menu, or a PDF. Photos should be flat and well lit.
  3. Wait while we read it. It usually takes under a minute.
  4. Check the menu on the next screen, then tap “Publish menu”.
Fix anything the menu reader got wrong
  1. Dishes we weren’t sure about are highlighted, with a note saying what to check. Start with those.
  2. Tap any name or price to change it. Tap the green or brown mark to switch between veg, non-veg and egg.
  3. Use “Add dish” and “Remove” to add or take out dishes.
  4. Tap “Publish menu” when it looks right. You can change anything later.

Everyday edits

Change a price
  1. Go to Menu.
  2. Tap the price next to the dish.
  3. Type the new price and tap Save. It’s live straight away.
Hide a dish that’s sold out
  1. Go to Menu.
  2. Tap the switch next to the dish. It changes to “Hidden” and the dish disappears from your menu immediately.
  3. Tap it again tomorrow to bring the dish back.
Add a new dish or a seasonal special
  1. Go to Menu and find the category.
  2. Tap “Add dish” at the bottom of the category.
  3. Type the name and price, choose veg or non-veg, and tap Save.
  4. For a specials section, tap “Add category” at the top first.
Add a description or a “Chef’s special” or “Spicy” tag
  1. Go to Menu and tap the dish name.
  2. Type a short description, and tap a tag such as Chef’s special or Spicy.
  3. Tap Save.
Reorder categories and dishes
  1. Go to Menu.
  2. Press and hold the dotted handle on the left of a category or dish.
  3. Drag it up or down and let go. The new order is saved immediately.

Your QR code

Add your logo, colour and menu font
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap “Upload logo” and choose an image.
  3. Pick your colour and a menu font. The preview below shows how your menu will look.
  4. Tap “Save changes”. Your menu updates immediately.
Rename your restaurant or change your web address
  1. Go to Settings and change the name or web address.
  2. Tap “Save changes”.
  3. Your printed QR code keeps working. Old links redirect to the new address.
Rebuild your menu from new photos
  1. Go to Menu and tap “Rebuild from photos”.
  2. Upload photos of your new menu and review it.
  3. Tap “Publish menu”. Your QR code stays the same.

Insights and billing

See how many people scanned your menu
  1. Go to Insights.
  2. See how many people opened your menu today, this week and this month.
  3. Scroll down to see which categories and dishes people looked at most.
Pay for Slatemenu
  1. Go to Settings → Plan & billing.
  2. Choose monthly (₹799) or yearly (₹7,999).
  3. Pay by UPI, card or net banking.
  4. Nothing renews automatically. We’ll remind you before your plan ends.
